After graduating from high school in Johannesburg, South Africa, Simmie Cooper moved to the United States in 1976 and entered the University of Southern California, majoring in accounting. He graduated in 1981 with a B.A. in Business Administration and was also qualified as a CPA. With his family in Johannesburg heavily involved in real estate and residential building, Simmie had grown up around the construction industry and soon decided to pursue a career in home construction. In the late 1980’s, Simmie created Cooper Homes to create high-end homes and has operated successfully for the last 30+ years. Simmie has built hundreds of custom homes, priced from $500k to $15mm. In the late 1990’s, he founded 2 entry-level home building companies, Camden Homes and Casas Modernas, which combined have built over 4000 homes throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and Houston area over the past 20 years.
